About Us

Designer Sahar Hersel can recall the exact moment in which she decided her life’s mission; “When I was five years old, I remember watching my mother slip into a stunning evening gown that she was to wear to a wedding later that night. I can still remember how she seemed to come alive. My fate was sealed. At that moment I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life designing clothing that made women everywhere look as beautiful as my mother did that night.” Over the next several years, Hersel spent her free time sketching the various ideas that danced around her imagination all day long. By the time she was 15 she was taking summer courses at OTIS, and then racing home to practice what she had just learned.

When the time came for college, she had her sights set on USC’s business school with the end goal of starting her own clothing line by graduation. However, her attraction towards creativity coupled with USC‘s abundance of inspiration beckoned her in a million different directions until she ultimately decided on the historically acclaimed film school, no easy feat. Upon graduating, Hersel decided to attend FIDM where she studied fashion design and manufacturing in a one-year accelerated program, graduating at the top of her class. She has spent the last five years working her way up from her first industry job as a design room assistant to her most recent position as Senior Designer for a high-end fashion line serving the likes of celebrities from Halle Berry to Jessica Alba. “I’ve learned an incredible amount from the various positions I have held within the industry, especially from the smallest companies where I was encouraged to wear as many hats as possible. But now I can say I am ready to set out on my own and bring my own designs to life…with no compromises.”

The name of the line is “Za Za Zsu,” and can only be described as that certain intangible something that makes you fall head-over-heels-in-love with someone. It is exactly the kind of love affair Hersel has had with fashion since that night in her mother’s dressing room. And it is exactly the feeling that she hopes to inspire in women everywhere when they experience her contemporary line of sensuously fun women’s wear.  For more about the collection be sure to check out our Vision page.
